Where are we at? Progress Made.

Self-driving cars have come a long way since the beginning. Self-driving cars are in our streets and we don’t even notice them, at first most people were against the idea of self-driving cars. Over time however as the technology developed so did the minds of the people, eventually, some people did want self-driving cars.
Right now the AI involved in a self-driving car is amazing, with all the sensors and the real-time identification of humans and cars. Self-driving cars really are amazing and right now there are self-driving cars on our roads and in the future, they may be the only thing on our road.

What still needs to happen to overcome challenges?

In my eyes, the main challenge to overcome is training the AI to drive. Since it takes immense amounts of data to train the AI it takes time to collect that data. If there was a way to speed up the process in a safe way then it would allow for the development of AI to speed up drastically.

What are the ethical obstacles?

I think the responsibility of the car in a crash is a big one. If a self-driving car crashes who is responsible, the person who is supposed to be supervising the car or the car itself. In many cases, it depends, and from person to person there are many different opinions.
